The decision to construct the new, JetBlue-specific terminal was made in August 2004, given the number of passengers and an ongoing renovation project at John F. Kennedy airport. Turner provided the building administration services for this 65,000-square-foot, 150,000-square-foot terminal expansion of John F. Kennedy International Airports Terminal 5 to Jetblue Airways. The latest addition to New York-based JetBlue Airways effectively has historic significance. 

The TWA Flight Center The iconic TWA flight center will never be a functional component of JetBlue but will host, once the refurbishment is completed, an electronic ticketing kiosk for passengers who decide to get in there. 

In addition to offering an elevated airport experience to passengers on JetBlue, the property provides seamless terminal-to-terminal connections to passengers traveling on airline codeshare partners Aer Lingus, Cape Air, and Hawaiian Airlines. 

JFK Terminal 5 

While Terminal 5 is the main passenger hub for JetBlue at JFK, other carriers such as Cape Air and Aer Lingus also service Terminal 5 for their own flight operations. JetBlue Terminal JFK does not provide lounges for their Premium Cabin passengers, but it does provide an elegant rooftop deck in New York's Terminal 5 to all passengers in New York's JFK. 

Connected with major U.S. discount airline JetBlue at JFK's Terminal 5, through Sarrinens iconic Flight Tube, is TWA's only on-airport hotel, available by Air Train. The 512 ultra-quiet guest rooms have a magnificent view of the runways at JFK, as well as of TWA's iconic Flight Center. 

In spring and summer, informed passengers may also be able to make full use of JFK's one and only outdoor rooftop deck, located inside the terminal just outside gate 28. JetBlue took little ones into consideration when building Terminal 5, JFK, which has not one, but two playgrounds for small children.
